Job Description

Responsibilities

• Independently prepare all food items as directed by supervisor and according to company specifications.
• Identify and inspect all food products for quality.
• Follow storage procedures when handling food in and out of the walk-in.
• Use culinary equipment safely and properly.
• Demonstrate a solid understanding of cooking skills and techniques.
• Maintain walk-in, prep area, and equipment in compliance with Health Department and EcoSure standards.
• Attend department meetings and required training sessions.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• At least 2-3 years of culinary experience in a hotel or restaurant kitchen.
• Ability to work efficiently without immediate supervision.
• Familiarity with weights and measures for recipe scaling.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with organizational abilities.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, executing delegated tasks effectively.
• Culinary degree and/or formal training preferred.
• Texas Food Handlers certification required.

Physical Requirements:

• Good eye/hand coordination for kitchen equipment use.
• Sufficient manual dexterity for knives, spatulas, tongs, etc.
• Ability to bend, stand for long periods, and lift up to 70 lbs.

Working Environment:

• Indoor hotel restaurant and kitchen areas with exposure to humidity, steam, and extreme temperatures.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals used in food and beverage sanitation.
