We are rebuilding our Planning function and implementing a more agile, visual, floor-level execution system. We are looking for a proactive and organized Production Controller to help drive daily production flow, maintain visibility of work in progress, sequence tasks, and ensure Production teams always have clear “Now” and “Next” priorities.

In this role, you will serve as a key connection between Planning and Production, partnering closely with Production Leads, the Senior Planner, and the Intermediate Planner to keep work moving, maintain production readiness, and eliminate barriers to execution. You will help translate changing priorities and complex production requirements into clear, actionable plans that support customer commitments and delivery excellence.

If you enjoy working directly with production teams, solving problems, creating structure, and bringing visibility and accountability to fast-moving operations, this could be an excellent opportunity for you.

What You’ll Do

  • Attend daily standup meetings with the Production Manager to review progress, align priorities, and identify production constraints.
  • Maintain and manage the work order pipeline to support production readiness, visibility, and execution.
  • Break sales orders into task-level work orders that provide clear, actionable direction for Production teams.
  • Sequence production work based on Sales Order commitments, delivery schedules, priorities, and available resources.
  • Ensure Team Leaders have clear visibility into what their teams are working on Now and Next.
  • Verify work is fully ready before release to the production floor, including material availability, drawings, instructions, and other applicable requirements.
  • Identify, track, and coordinate the resolution of production blockers, including material shortages, missing drawings, unclear work instructions, and other constraints.
  • Coordinate with Planning, Engineering, Purchasing, and Production to resolve issues quickly and maintain workflow.
  • Support Scrum-style hour estimating, work planning, and burndown tracking to improve visibility into production progress and expected completion.
  • Monitor work order progress, throughput, schedule attainment, and production readiness.
  • Track risks to schedule and esaclate delays, constraints, and changing priorities to Planning and Production leadership.
  • Help implement and sustain visual management practices, standard work, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support predictable production flow by identifying bottlenecks, excessive work in progress, and opportunities to improve sequencing and execution.
  • Promote safe production practices and ensure work is performed in accordance with established procedures and work instructions.
  • Support cross-training, knowledge sharing, and team development to build flexibility and promotable talent.
  • Perform other operational and planning duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring
  • Experience coordinating production activities, work schedules, materials, projects, or workflows in a manufacturing or other fast-paced operational environment.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines, and changing conditions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate ambiguity into clear, actionable next steps.
  • Experience maintaining production schedules, work order pipelines, task tracking systems, or similar operational planning tools.
  • Ability to interpret work order requirements, production documentation drawings, and work instructions, or the ability to learn these requirements.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to facilitate discussions, communicate priorities, and coordinate across departments.
  • Ability to identify production blockers, assess risks, and drive timely follow-up and resolution.
  • Comfort working regularly on the production floor and collaborating directly with Production Leads, Team Leaders, and operators.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate production status, priorities, and tracking information.
  • Ability to remain composed, flexible, and collaborative when priorities shift or unexpected challenges arise.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and urgency.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, quality, customer service, and delivery excellence.
