Production Control Specialist II

Summary
The Production Control Specialist II supports the execution, monitoring, and control of manufacturing operations to ensure production plans are achieved efficiently and accurately. This position monitors production performance, work-in-process (WIP), finished goods inventory, work orders, material flow, yield, and key operational metrics across Electrode, Assembly, Formation, and Aging processes. The Production Control Specialist II works closely with Production Planning, Production, Quality, Process Engineering, Materials, and other cross-functional teams to identify production constraints, reconcile inventory and system discrepancies, improve schedule adherence, and support timely decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Monitor daily production execution against established plans and schedules; analyze Plan vs. Actual performance to identify deviations, constraints, and risks
- Coordinate with Production Planning and manufacturing teams on schedule adjustments resulting from equipment downtime, material shortages, yield fluctuations, or quality issues
- Identify bottlenecks and capacity constraints across Electrode, Assembly, Formation, and Aging processes, and support corrective actions and production recovery activities
- Monitor WIP movement and material flow to identify congestion, shortages, or flow concerns, coordinating resolution with Materials, Production, Quality, and Process Engineering
- Create, monitor, maintain, and close production work orders in SAP or applicable manufacturing systems, verifying transaction accuracy and timeliness
- Review system transactions for discrepancies affecting production, inventory, yield, or material balances, and coordinate resolution with appropriate departments
- Monitor WIP and finished goods inventory accuracy; lead or coordinate monthly physical inventory and cycle-counting activities
- Reconcile inventory discrepancies, perform root cause analysis, and coordinate corrective actions for recurring issues
- Maintain accurate production control records and supporting documentation
- Track and analyze production yield and key performance indicators (schedule attainment, productivity, inventory accuracy, lead time, on-time delivery) by process and reporting period
- Identify performance trends and recurring production issues through data analysis, partnering with Production, Quality, and Engineering to investigate
- Prepare, validate, and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly production and inventory reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders and headquarters
- Collaborate with Production Planning, Production, Quality, Process Engineering, Materials, and Logistics to resolve production and inventory concerns
- Participate in and facilitate daily and weekly production meetings to review performance, constraints, priorities, and corrective actions
- Communicate production status, inventory conditions, operational risks, and recovery actions to appropriate stakeholders, including local and global LG and Hyundai teams
- Identify and support opportunities to improve production control processes, reporting, inventory accuracy, material flow, and system utilization, including standardization of procedures and work instructions
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance, maintain confidentiality of company and operational information, support 5S3R standards, and perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field preferred
- Equivalent relevant education and experience may be considered
Experience
- 3+ years of experience in production control, production planning, manufacturing operations, supply chain, inventory management, or a related function preferred
- Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment preferred
- Experience supporting production planning, scheduling, production control, or manufacturing execution preferred
- Experience with inventory management, WIP control, work orders, or manufacturing transactions preferred
- Experience using SAP, ERP, MES, or comparable manufacturing systems preferred
- Battery, automotive, advanced manufacturing, or other high-volume manufacturing experience preferred

Skills
- Knowledge of production control, manufacturing operations, scheduling, and material-flow principles; understanding of capacity, lead time, WIP, inventory, yield, and schedule attainment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to analyze Plan vs. Actual results and interpret production, inventory, yield, and operational data
- Working knowledge of ERP and manufacturing systems such as SAP
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, lookups, filtering, data analysis, reporting) and other Microsoft Office applications
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate production information clearly to technical, operational, and leadership stakeholders
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and multicultural manufacturing environment
- Ability to facilitate meetings and follow corrective actions through completion
- Ability to work independently while maintaining alignment with Production Planning and manufacturing leadership
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform extended periods of computer-based work

- Ability to periodically walk through manufacturing and warehouse areas to review production, inventory, or material-flow conditions

- May require flexibility to support production schedules, inventory activities, month-end processes, shutdowns, or urgent production conditions outside normal business hours
