Job summary

Baker Engineering, LLC is seeking a Production Control Buyer/Planner in Muskegon, MI to link customer demand with purchasing and production.

The role requires proactive coordination across multiple departments and suppliers to keep on-time delivery while minimizing inventory and delays. You will manage schedules, material planning, and outside processing, ensuring accurate ERP/MRP data and helping drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in production planning, buying, scheduling, or supply chain.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing flow, production schedules, inventory control, purchasing and outside processing.
• Experience with ERP/MRP or production-planning systems; proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Strong organization and ability to manage changing priorities, details, and multiple deadlines.
• Clear and professional communication with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, operations or related field preferred; equivalent manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage customer releases, delivery schedules, promise dates, past-due orders, forecasts and schedule changes.
• Develop and maintain production schedules balancing priorities, material availability, capacity, labor, and outside processing.
• Participate in daily production meetings to identify downtime, missing material, outside-process delays, expedites and capacity constraints.
• Plan and purchase raw materials and components based on forecasts, customer demand, safety stock, and schedules.
• Coordinate outside processing including anodize, chem film, heat treat, plating, and grinding through PO creation and supplier scheduling.
• Identify and resolve material shortages, routing issues, capacity constraints, supplier delays and bottlenecks.
• Maintain ERP/MRP data such as routers, lead times, inventory parameters, work orders, and POs.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, Logistics, Sales, Engineering and Customer Service to communicate priorities and risks.
• Track schedule attainment, on-time delivery and performance metrics; drive improvements.
