Job summary

Hood Container Corporation is seeking a 1st shift Production Shift Lead at our Allentown, PA plant. You will oversee packing or assembly lines, ensure product quality, and supervise line coordinators.

The role requires bilingual English/Spanish communication, strong Excel skills, and a commitment to GMP and safety rules. You will manage line setup, attendance, and reporting, coordinate with supply and shipping, and train staff to maintain efficient production.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and perform math to maintain production reports and balance workloads.
• Effective communication of instructions and requirements on the floor.
• Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving in production environments.

Responsibilities

• Set up assembly or packing lines efficiently and ensure smooth line transitions.
• Ensure quality of finished product and adherence to procedures and work instructions.
• Be the first on the floor to understand new production data and display information.
• Provide clear instructions for contract workers to perform jobs.
• Complete line paperwork and data in appropriate systems.
• Meet production schedule and ensure full completion of output.
• Report problems or deviations to the immediate supervisor promptly.
• Coordinate with supply to maintain uninterrupted raw material flow.
• Collaborate with shipping to ensure timely removal of finished goods.
• Assist in training production associates and line coordinators on tasks.
• Guide line coordinators with on-floor work activities.
• Communicate production issues to Scheduler and enforce GMP/safety rules.

Job description

Our Allentown, PA plant is looking for a 1st shift Production Shift Lead. This position will have overall responsibility for the efficient and correct operation of a packing or assembly line and assist with the oversight of Line Coordinators.

What It Takes

• Responsible for the efficient and correct setup of the assembly or packing line. Ensuring an efficient line transition when necessary.
• Responsible for the quality of the finished product.
• Responsible for following all procedures and work instructions pertaining to production.
• Ensure full understanding of new production. Be the first point of contact on the floor for new display information.
• Ensure adequate instructions are given to enable contract workers to perform specific job requirements.
• Perform the necessary paperwork and reports for the line, recording data where necessary in appropriate systems.
• Ensure production schedule is met and production is complete in full.
• Promptly report problems, concerns, or out-of-standard conditions to immediate supervisor.
• Work with supply to insure the uninterrupted supply of raw materials.
• Work with the shipping department to insure the prompt removal of finished product.
• Conduct warehouse investigations as necessary to locate missing pallets/cases.
• Assist with training of production associates and line coordinators.
• Assist with directing work activity for line coordinators.
• Communicate all production problems, delays, changes, etc. to Scheduler.
• Enforce and follow all safety and GMP rules.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. .

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Possess the skills necessary to perform reading, writing and mathematics to maintain the required production reports and plan balanced workloads.
• General knowledge of MS Excel
• Effectively communicate instructions and requirements.
• Demonstrate initiative and effectiveness in dealing with out-of-the-ordinary situations which may arise in the course of the job.
• Work overtime or odd shifts as necessary to meet production requirements.
• Maintain an exceptional level of attendance and punctuality.
