Placements24 is seeking a Production Chemist to join our client’s team in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. The role focuses on optimizing chemical aspects of oil and gas production, ensuring efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance.

You will analyze production fluids, troubleshoot issues like corrosion and scaling, and develop chemical treatment programs for wells and facilities. Collaboration with engineers and field staff is essential for asset integrity and hydrocarbon recovery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or closely related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in production chemistry in upstream oil & gas.
• Strong understanding of fluid properties and chemistry of production chemicals.
• Experience with lab analyses relevant to production fluids.
• Familiarity with vendors and supply chain management is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and in field operations.

Responsibilities

• Analyze production fluids to monitor for chemical issues.
• Diagnose and recommend solutions for corrosion, scaling, paraffin deposition, and emulsions.
• Develop, implement, and optimize chemical treatment programs for wells and facilities.
• Select and manage production chemicals and ensure proper application.
• Monitor performance of chemical treatments and adjust dosages as needed.
• Conduct lab tests and field trials to evaluate chemical effectiveness and compatibility.
• Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot fluid-related issues.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations for chemical usage and discharge.
• Maintain detailed records of chemical consumption, performance, and costs.
• Stay updated on new production chemistry technologies.
