Job summary

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Retread Technician to join our retread team. No prior experience is required as we provide on-the-job training.

You will inspect tires, buff casings, repair and apply new tread, cure and perform final inspections to ensure a safe, quality product. Comprehensive benefits and a 401(k) plan are included.

Job description

The starting pay for this position is $20.00/hr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on factors such-as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. Selected candidates may be eligible for a number of benefits, including: medical, prescription, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, disability, tuition assistance, sick and vacation time, as well as tire discounts.

About the Role:

As a member of our retread team, you will play a role in recapping, remolding, or in other words, extending the life of an existing tire to get it back on the road!

In our retread plants you will have the opportunity to support the retread process through various stages:

• Inspect the tires to assess if they can be retread
• Buff the casing to remove any worn tread
• Remove embedded objects, rust, and repair the tire casing
• Using rubber cement or a patch, repair the casing before applying new tread
• Building the tire by applying new tread
• Curing the tire to mold the retread application
• Final Inspection to assess a safe and quality product
