Job summary

Afinitas, a global manufacturing leader, is hiring a fabrication shop worker in Alden, NY. You will prepare and finish metal surfaces, apply protective coverings, load/unload materials, and help maintain a safe, organized work area in a plant setting.

Candidates should have up to 2 years in a fabrication environment, be able to operate power tools and material handling equipment, and communicate clearly with team members. We value reliability and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years’ experience in fabrication shop environment.
• Ability to operate power tools safely.
• Ability to operate material handling equipment.
• Strong verbal and written interpersonal/communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to shifting priorities.
• Ability to work individually as well as in a team.

Responsibilities

• Condition material surfaces by abrasive blasting, grinding, sanding, polishing and cleaning operations.
• Apply/remove protective coverings and masking from stainless steel sheet, threads and features used to mitigate damage during process operations or used for preservation of surface conditions.
• Assist with loading and removal of materials and subassemblies from process operation staging areas.
• Package materials, subassemblies and assemblies for local and/or long-distance shipment by palletization, banding, wrapping or other methods.
• Load and unload local and long-distance carriers.
• Clean, organize and maintain shop and office spaces.
• Assist with facility maintenance and janitorial activities.
• Other duties as required.
