Job summary

Afinitas is seeking a reliable Material Handler to support shop operations in a manufacturing environment in Alden, NY. You will review project drawings, track parts from receipt to completion, coordinate workflow to hit milestones, and move finished parts between departments as needed.

The role requires 2–4 years of material handling, blueprints reading, and strong communication. Our benefits start day one, including medical/dental/vision, 401k with company match, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of material handling experience.
• 2 years’ experience in fabrication shop environment
• 2 years’ Experience with reading blueprints
• Strong verbal and written interpersonal/communication skills required
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to shifting priorities
• Ability to work individually as well as in a team environment

Responsibilities

• Review shop drawings and other pertinent project information to identify and understand the scope of work for each project.
• Interpret job schedule and track all parts from material receipt, to completion.
• Coordinate workflow to meet the established schedule milestones.
• Responsible for moving completed parts from designated department complete areas to the next location based on what step is next for the part.
• Mark in job scheduling software when subcontractor parts are received.
• Communicate with Supervisors and Plant Manager when parts are in danger of being late.
• Generate and attach BOLs in job scheduling software, for parts moving to subcontractor network.
• Organize all local trucking.
• Communicate progress of workflow toward achievement of project milestones to the Plant Manager.
• Work in other departments as needed when not actively performing duties above, delegated by Utility Supervisor.
• Other duties as required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Works in a plant/manufacturing environment that involves the use of industrial machinery and chemicals. Employee must be able to correctly wear and use any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required at the location.

Compensation

The approximate pay range for this position is $22-24/hour. Please note that the pay range is a good faith estimate at the time of posting and may vary based on factors such as experience, skills, and geographic location.
