Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Brownstown, MI is hiring 2nd and 3rd shift Assistant Machine Operators/General Laborers. Starting pay is $22.13/hr, increasing to $27.58/hr after training, plus wellness benefits.

You will stack product, perform quality checks, set up materials, and maintain a clean, safe workspace while learning manufacturing processes and operating equipment. Overtime and weekend shifts apply.

Qualifications

• Manufacturing experience preferred but training is provided.
• Ability to operate manufacturing equipment and power hand tools.
• Read a tape measure, perform basic math, and use a computer for simple tasks.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Military training or technical school preferred.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking 2nd Shift and 3rd Shift Assistant Machine Operators/ General Laborer for our Brownstown, MI location. Starting Pay: $22.13/hr. (up to $27.58 after training) + Wellness Benefits, 1st of the Month following date of hire.

• Primary duties include safely performing a wide range of tasks that include stacking product, conducting quality checks, material set-up, and maintaining a clean and organized work space.
• The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to working safe, demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, a strong desire to learn manufacturing processes and operating complex machinery and have a desire to advance within the company.

What You Need To Succeed

• Manufacturing experience (preferred) however not required - full training provided.
• Ability to operate various manufacturing equipment, follow specific direction, operate power hand tools, and other duties as assigned.
• Maintain a clean work environment. Ability to read a tape measure, basic math, and computer skills.
• Ability to work safely and comply with all safety regulations. Ability to lift, push or pull 50 lbs., navigate stairs, stand, walk, bend, and kneel throughout the entire shift.
• Required to work daily overtime, weekend work and various shifts depending on position. High school diploma or equivalent
• Military training and or Technical School preferred
