Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Machine Assistant - Stacker in Norcross, GA. The role supports high-volume packaging operations, performs quality checks, and helps set up and run packaging machinery in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate is safety-minded, eager to learn manufacturing processes, and capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. Shifts include 2nd and 3rd with potential overtime or alternative 2nd shift hours. Onsite facility with standard PPE provided.

Qualifications

• Must read and understand instruction and procedure manuals.
• Able to read a tape measure and perform basic math.
• Must wear safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection and PPE provided.

Responsibilities

• Support the operation of a fast-paced packaging manufacturing facility.
• Assist machine operators and helpers with setups and jam-ups.
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace and monitor for safety.
• Perform quality checks of products and processes as required.
• Provide cross-functional support across different machinery and areas.

MACHINE ASSISTANT - STACKER

Starting Pay: $18.50 once qualified $19.80/hr+

Shift: 2nd & 3rd shift M-F 11p-7a overtime and weekends as needed or 2nd shift M-F 3p-11p

Work Environment

Onsite, non-climate-controlled

Primary job duties will include but are not limited to safely performing a wide range of tasks supporting the manufacturing areas, production, conducting quality checks, material setup, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

• The Manufacturing Helper is normally the third team member assigned to a machine in the Production.
• Being able to support operators on different machinery while assisting different areas as needed.
• Some of the duties of this position include, but are not limited to ensuring that all tooling for the machine is on hand, assisting the machine operator and assistant operator with setups and jam-ups, ensuring that the area surrounding the machine is kept clean of debris and spills

What You Need To Succeed

• A learning mindset
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand basic English
• Ability to read materials to understand and apply content, such as instruction manuals, procedure manuals or assembly manuals
• Able to read a tape measure and perform basic math
• Must wear safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection and other safety gear as required (We will provide any necessary PPE.)
• Ability to stand and walk continuously with occasional kneeling, crouching, squatting, bending, climbing, and grasping
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work in an uncontrolled temperature environment (hot or cold)
