Job summary

Washington Equipment Manufacturing Company, Inc. (WEMCO) is seeking a Production Assistant to help organize parts and materials across production stages. You will learn essential manufacturing skills and gain exposure to engineering, procurement, project management, and production.

No formal degree required; training provided. Responsibilities include organizing incoming materials, quoting and issuing purchase orders, inspecting materials, labeling and coordinating with work orders, and

Qualifications

  • Must have basic computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Must have good attention to detail and the ability to follow directions.
  • Must work well with others and independently.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings; training provided.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and organize incoming materials for ease of access during assembly
  • Obtain quotes and write purchase orders for steel, components, and other materials
  • Perform material inspections to verify products received are consistent with the order and drawing requirements
  • Quarantine non-conforming and/or incorrect products for replacement or return
  • Label products with identifying information to expedite the kitting process
  • Report defective materials, quantity issues, and/or purchase order problems to the Production Manager or Project Manager
  • Maintain an organized and tidy work area
  • Inspect work orders and drawing packages to ensure complete information
  • Place corresponding work orders and drawings with each group of parts
  • Ensure that products are distributed promptly
  • Assist the Project Manager with obtaining and filing pertinent documents
  • Report issues that may affect schedule/due dates

Job Purpose:

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use fine finger manipulation, use hands to handle and grasp, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb and balance, bend, stoop, twist, and/or crouch. Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.
