Overview

Farwest Steel Corporation has been the preeminent metal solutions provider in the Western United States since 1956. The company provides products and services to consolidate multiple suppliers into one solution. Farwest employs over 600 people across seven Western states. The Production Assistant supports the Operations Department by processing orders cut on burning machines and assisting in other warehouse areas while following all safety policies and procedures.

As a condition of employment, all applicants are required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Farwest adheres to federal regulations regarding drug testing, including THC. Position Details

Job Type: Full Time, Onsite

Schedule: Monday – Friday, multiple shifts, with limited after hours and weekends as required

Starting Wage: $18.50 – $21.50, depending on experience, plus shift differential

Location: Onsite - Farwest Steel’s Operations Department

Key Responsibilities

• Identify parts associated with a specific order, process parts, and clean up per instructions on the work order using grinders and hand tools.
• Stack parts on pallets or in bundles and mark with pertinent information from the work order for delivery or storage.
• Remove small cut parts from the burning tables by hand when needed.
• Identify all questionable quality issues and present them for review by the supervisor to ensure that customer expectations are met on every order.
• Load and unload vehicles including inbound deliveries and customer will calls.
• Sort and prepare parts for the processing area.
• Occasional forklift and crane operation as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (optional).

• Effective verbal and written communication in English
• Ability to make mathematical calculations and read a tape measure
