Job summary

Safe Fleet is seeking a Production Assembly Operator to read blueprints and work orders, process parts, and perform machine operations in a manufacturing environment. You will assemble parts, set up fixtures, and ensure product quality while documenting any defects.

The role requires teamwork, attentiveness, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. In this hourly, non-exempt position, you will report to the Production Manager within the Manufacturing department.

  • Experience with quality checks and documentation when defects are identified.

  • Process parts and perform saw or machine operations.
  • Assemble parts and sub-assemblies using handheld tools.
  • Setup machines with correct fixtures and tooling; understand tool height offsets.
  • Perform quality checks and report defects with proper documentation.
  • Monitor inventory levels and report low on-hand material levels.

  • Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures.
  • Required to know and understand part numbering system.
  • Required to monitor inventory levels and report low on-hand material levels to department leaders.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Process parts.

  • Assemble parts and sub-assemblies.

Other Duties And Responsibilities
  • Report unusual and/or unsafe conditions to Supervisor or other department leader.
  • Report any issues or conditions that may cause delays to the production schedule.
  • Good communication with Management, Supervisors, Engineering, and all Support Management.
  • Material Handling.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs repetitively.
  • Must maintain a clean, organized, and safe work station.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Supervision within capabilities.
Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints.
  • Must be able to use tape measures, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Do daily maintenance on machines.
  • Work in other areas of fabrication and/or machine shop.
Work Environment And Physical Requirements
  • Must have the ability to read, write, speak and understand English, plus have adequate hearing and visual acuity and superior understanding of verbal written instruction.
  • Working environment is a heated and non-air conditioned manufacturing/warehouse setting.
  • Safety glasses with side shields are required in the manufacturing environment.
  • Physical requirement of the position includes frequent reaching, gripping and carrying up to 50 lbs., plus standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting and walking.
  • Must handle multiple tasks and perform effectively in a fast paced, high stress work environment.
