Job summary

Emerson in Brenham, TX is seeking an Assembly professional to join our manufacturing team on a 3rd shift (Friday–Sunday, 6:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.). Starting pay ranges from $20.89 to $23.00 per hour with a $2.00 shift differential based on experience.

You will perform hand soldering, component assembly, coating applications, testing, inspection, and packaging for finished products while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity goals in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Basic math and measurement skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.
  • Perform routine assembly operations including hand soldering and component assembly.
  • Operate production equipment and setup workstation according to procedures.
  • Conduct testing, calibration, inspection, OBQ, and packaging of finished products.
  • Meet productivity and quality goals.
  • Maintain production records and documentation.
  • Stay current on work instructions and training.
  • Suggest improvements to manufacturing processes.
  • Safely operate tools and report damaged/missing tools.
  • Identify non-conforming materials and escalate accordingly.
  • Verify product quality using inspection methods and SPC techniques.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work area (5S).
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

Open Shifts:
  • 3rd Shift: Friday-Sunday | 6:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Starting Pay (based on experience):
  • $20.89-$23.00 + $2.00 shift differential
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Follow all safety procedures and immediately report unsafe conditions or behaviors.

  • Perform routine assembly operations including hand soldering, component assembly, application of coatings, solvents, adhesives, and potting compounds.

  • Operate production equipment and perform routine workstation setup activities according to documented procedures.

  • Conduct testing, calibration, inspection, out-of-box quality (OBQ), and packaging activities for finished products.

  • Meet established productivity, quality, and production goals.

  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation as required.

  • Stay current on work instructions, procedures, and required training.

  • Recommend improvements and participate in the review of manufacturing processes and procedures.

  • Safely operate tools and equipment and report damaged or missing tools.

  • Identify non-conforming materials and follow established escalation procedures.

  • Verify product quality using inspection methods and Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area through daily housekeeping and 5S practices.

  • Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ year of manufacturing, assembly, or production experience.

  • Experience with hand soldering, testing, inspection, or packaging processes.

  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, or production equipment.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Experience working in a quality-regulated manufacturing environment.

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement concepts.

Work Environment
  • Fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to assembly equipment, production machinery, and adjacent welding operations.

  • Exposure to manufacturing-related noise, heat, and moving equipment within the production area.

  • Regular use of chemicals and process materials, including coatings, solvents, adhesives, potting compounds, cleaning agents, and other approved manufacturing substances.

  • May be exposed to welding fumes, odors, and airborne particulates generated by nearby manufacturing processes.

  • Requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, protective sleeves, and safety footwear as required.

  • Work is performed in accordance with established safety, quality, environmental, and operational procedures.

  • Requires adherence to 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement practices.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 10 hours per shift.

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 40 pounds.

  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements, including assembly, soldering, testing, packaging, and material handling activities.

  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, and inspection devices.

  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, twist, and move throughout the production area.

  • Visual acuity sufficient to inspect parts, identify defects, read work instructions, and perform detailed assembly work.
