Responsibilities
- Ensuring that customers receive finished products per the sales order.
- Assembles, programs, and tests BTS Blinker signs, blinker paddles, RRFB, Beacons, ETO Blinker Signs, and DirecTimes.
- Operates within a cell work environment where standardized work, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S principles are practiced.
- Reports to the Production Manager.
- Assembles custom orders according to engineered-to-order standards and documentation.
- Programs and tests finished products.
- Packs products into wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers using protective padding.
- Participates in cell changeovers from part to part.
- Performs minor maintenance.
- Solves routine problems.
- Learns Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles and practices them on a daily basis.
- Conducts regular 5S audits and quality audits and checks.
- Shares and supports ideas for improvement in group meetings.
- Participates in group and individual improvement activities with team members, engineering, and management.
- Helps implement and support improvement ideas.
- Communicates with the Cell/Team Leader, Planner, and Management as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience in assembling custom orders per engineered-to-order standards and documentation.
- Ability to program and test finished products.
- Proficiency in packing products into wooden or cardboard containers or selecting preassembled containers using protective padding.
- Experience participating in cell changeovers, performing minor maintenance, and solving routine problems.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles, ability to conduct regular audits.
- Strong verbal, listening, and written communication skills.
- Analytical skills to solve routine problems with a variety of concrete variables.
- Computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and testing equipment.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience within the industry, prior experience assembling panels, wire harnesses, and/or other electrical control products.
- Ability to work in a team/cell-based environment.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and stand for 75% of the day.
Required Knowledge & Skills
- Electronics: OMS law, AC/DC, Voltage/Amps, solar controls.
- Mechanical ability: read and interpret electronic and mechanical work instructions, drawings, and schematics.
- Mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Communication skills: strong verbal, listening, and written skills.
- Technical problem‑solving skills: analyze and solve routine problems with a variety of concrete variables.
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook.
- Tools & equipment: understanding of testing equipment.
