Job description

Duties & Accountabilities

• Operate machines and equipment or use hand tools to cut, shape, splice, and fit plastic materials for parts and assemblies.
• Follow blueprints and drawings to assemble shell halves using a hand lay-up process.
• Install fittings, gauge plates, man-ways, and other components and accessories.
• Cut and prepare composite materials from patterns to join parts and assemblies.
• Make minor adjustments or repairs to products.
• Use equipment including grinders, trimmers, measuring tools, and rollers.
• Inspect work periodically to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Document information on process sheets and time cards accurately and promptly.
• Maintain a neat and organized work area.
• Perform preventive maintenance to keep equipment operational.
• Support the production process with other activities as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred.
• Relevant experience or background in manufacturing or industrial environments preferred.
• Experience with spray guns is a definite asset.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings is an asset.
• Good English communication skills, including verbal, written, and reading.
• Effective teamwork and communication skills.
• Willingness and ability to learn new tools and equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail to identify material and product defects.
• Comfortable working in a fiberglass plant environment.
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces when needed.
• Flexibility to work variable hours, including overtime and weekends.
• Physical ability to lift 20-50 lbs., and perform bending, crouching, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.

• Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to safety rules and promoting a safety culture.
• Ensure equipment and processes operate safely and efficiently.
• Support the development of HAA and SOP documentation.
• Collaborate with employers and coworkers to protect health and safety at the work site.
