Job summary

Oneda Corporation in Columbus, Georgia is looking for a dedicated Production Operator to operate press machines and assist in production line setups. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, with some experience as a machine operator preferred. Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of the Production Supervisor and more skilled operators, operate press machines, robot press lines, or welding machines to produce precision stamped metal components.
  • Assist in equipment set up and changeovers of production lines.
  • Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and adjustments as needed.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Some experience as a machine operator.
  • Ability to perform basic functions on a computer.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Preferred: One or more years of experience as a machine operator.
  • Preferred: Two or more years of progressive production experience in press operations.
Machinery Duties
  • Produce precision stamped metal parts, free from defects, using automated press lines and manual presses.
  • Maintain dies in the production area by visually inspecting for defects and making minor adjustments under direction or supervision.
  • Ensure packing labels are correct and affixed to completed boxes as specified.
  • Assist in stacking parts prior to stamping or loading into the feeder.
  • Assist in setups in the production area, including robotic arms and tables.
  • Ensure first piece and last piece are compared and all features on the part are present and proper visual dimension.
  • Inspect parts for defects after use of the press machine(s), using product specifications.
Finishing / Inspection
  • Inspect and/or repack parts to ensure all processes are completed as specified, such as holes tapped, spot welds, etc., providing additional cleaning or brushing as specified by instruction guidelines.
  • Check critical dimensions per instruction guidelines, using tools such as jig, fixture, pin gauge, or other specified tools.
  • Operate presses or other machines to rework or repair parts as instructed, which may include brushing and/or grinding parts to remove slivers.
  • Inspect parts for accuracy.
Other Duties
  • Ensure starting parts are correct with process check sheet and ERP system.
  • Assemble parts as specified per packing standards, counting and weighing to ensure accurate quantities are packed and properly labeled.
  • Dispose of scrap material per company policies and procedures.
  • Alert the supervisor and appropriate department if issues with the product arise.
  • Organize tools and parts for stamping, clean work area including sweeping, removing trash, cleaning oil spills and wiping down machines.
  • Maintain appropriate daily documentation by entering required information.
  • Input minimal data into the ERP system.
  • Maintain documentation of all inspections performed, turning it into appropriate personnel.
  • Inform area leader in the case of corrective action needed on machines.
  • Under technical guidance of higher-level production staff, will train in the skills of Production Operator.

Possesses the knowledge of quality, environmental, and company policies and procedures; ensuring all products are produced efficiently and effectively to meet the established requirements.

Physical Demands
  • Works in standing or sitting position for extended periods.
  • On a hard surface, with continual movement of arms and hands.
  • Required to stand, stoop, bend, and lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Required to do reading and computer work.
  • Vision minimum 20/40 near and distant (with or without corrective lenses).
Personal Protective Equipment

Wears safety shoes, glasses, ear plugs, and gloves while in the production area, including the die shop and warehouse.

Work Environment

Works inside a semi-temperature-controlled plant where there are loud noises from presses. The work will be dusty, dirty, and greasy. Will be exposed to sharp edged materials and chemicals in oil.
