Job summary

MJ Celco, Inc. is looking for operators to control and execute operations of production machines. The role requires mechanical abilities and strong attention to detail to ensure quality and productivity goals.

Operators will be responsible for machine operation, dimensional inspections, documenting work, and participating in safety and continuous improvement processes.

Job description

Purpose and Scope

Operators are responsible for controlling and executing operations of single or multiple production machines in the process of manufacturing products. Responsible to operate metal stamping presses according to work instructions and requirements. Operators are responsible for executing press operation to accomplish stated quality and productivity goals.

Responsibilities
  • Performs machine operation and limited dimensional inspection to detect defects or equipment malfunction.
  • Willingly accepts and actively engages in certification process training and requirements. Responsible to provide quality workmanship with great attention to detail.
  • Responsible to execute all processes as per standard work instructions or company requirements. Operators are NOT authorized to alter or change defined processes but are strongly encouraged to offer improvement suggestions to supervisors and management.
  • Responsible to recognize and identify suspect and non-conforming parts. Responsible to recognize and identify high failure risk process events. Operators hold the responsibility, the authority and the obligation to stop the process if expected quality outputs are not realized.
  • Responsible to elevate issues to management if supervisors are not responsive to concerns.
  • May feed the steel into the die, fill press lubrication systems ensuring the accuracy of the lubrication in use versus specifications and may assist in die change activities, as applicable.
  • May perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance duties. Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem and/or repair machine.
  • Completes and documents in-process inspections as detailed on Operator Checklists. Conducts mistake-proofing validation processes also as required.
  • Responsible to assure proper use of all appropriate safeguarding and safety features at all times. Must take an active responsibility for safety. Responsible for taking necessary precautions to ensure personal safety.
  • Efficiently and accurately reports inventory and labor data to maintain accurate and timely records. Accurately and legibly completes Move Tickets to indicate inventory counts, job orders, completion dates, etc. Accurately completes and documents tooling performance on Die Repair Tickets.
  • Participates in the continuous improvement of the Press Room with suggestions for material and parts flow, quality or process improvements, safety suggestions, mistake proofing, etc. Individual is expected to continually contribute innovative ways of improving department processes in order to increase the quality and efficiency of their job.
  • Must maintain and promote and clean and safe work center environment.
  • Actively participates in work center readiness audits and verifies the receipt and proper documentation of all required approvals in advance of beginning production job orders.
  • Perform various other duties from time to time required by the Production Manager.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent with appropriate relevant experience. Vocational training or apprenticeship completion desired.
  • This is a hands‑on position and requires mechanical abilities and problem solving skills.
  • The position involves constant visual effort and concentration. The work requires standing and bending, and repetitive motions. It requires the ability to work and concentrate under conditions of loud noise and distractions. Lifting of 40 pounds is required, as well as the ability to grip and use hand tools.
  • Must have strong attention to detail and relentless toward safety. Must possess general knowledge of metal stamping equipment operation.
  • The position requires the use of precision measuring instruments & the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Must have basic knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) concepts, and ISO/TS16949 quality standards.
  • Willingness to be held accountable for results. Must be a self‑starter, conscientious, with excellent attitude and attendance.
  • Good math skills; ability to calculate and comprehend necessary math concepts.
  • Ability to complete required paperwork through basic reading and writing skills.
  • Must be a team player and able to work with production as well as management. Customer focus through quality‑mindedness is mandatory.
  • Must be flexible and willing to adjust job schedule given customer and production schedule demands.
  • Must utilize and care for equipment as if it is owned by the employee.
  • Must be able to work current Production hours: Monday - Thursday 6am - 4:30pm
