Job summary

Bausch + Lomb in the United States seeks a Head of Forward Deployed Engineer to turn AI pilots into production capability across manufacturing, supply chain, quality and engineering. This is a hands-on leadership role shipping production-ready AI solutions in real operating environments and driving adoption.

You will lead a small FDE team, set technical standards, and partner with AI Delivery, Data and IT to deliver as one team. Success is measured by adoption and business outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field.
• 10+ years in software engineering and production-grade deployments.
• Proficiency in Python and API development.
• Experience with generative AI and ML in production.
• Experience deploying enterprise technology with business users.
• Leadership or mentoring experience in engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy AI-enabled solutions (generative AI, agents, ML, workflow automation) that run reliably in production.
• Integrate with SAP and plant, quality, and supply chain platforms via APIs and data pipelines.
• From prototype to production: testing, user acceptance, security/compliance review, release, monitoring, and support.
• Embed and diagnose by working with plant leaders, planners, buyers, and quality teams.
• Drive adoption: define metrics, build training materials, and train end users.
• Lead the FDE team: coach engineers, set code standards, and prioritize work.
• Collaborate with AI Delivery, Data, and IT on architecture and platform standards.
