Job summary

Samara Living Inc. in Redwood City, CA seeks a Product Technical Lead to own engineering for new product programs from concept to production.

You will coordinate structural, MEP, and envelope systems, integrate BIM workflows, and drive technical execution with Design and Program teams. Reporting to the Director of Product Engineering, you will ensure manufacturability, manage BOMs, and lead prototyping through to production releases while upholding Samara’s technical standards and quality

Qualifications

• 8+ years of technical experience on complex physical products
• BS/MS in architecture, architectural/structural/mechanical engineering or related field; licensure preferred
• Experience with BIM and CAD workflows and tools (Onshape, Revit, BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud)
• Experience managing engineering BOMs, product configuration, milestone-based releases, and change control
• Strong cross-discipline knowledge across structural, MEP, and envelope engineering
• Ability to work within technical standards and provide sound program-level engineering judgments
• Comfort with incomplete information, quick adaptation, and proposing practical solutions
• Strong communication with technical and manufacturing teams; review drawings and work on factory floor
• Experience with multi-discipline BIM and federated model coordination
• Familiarity with building code approvals for factory-built or modular construction and third-party reviews

Responsibilities

• Lead technical development of the product from concept through production
• Ensure integrated, multi-discipline engineering model matures from layouts to construction-ready docs
• Develop and optimize BIM workflows for internal and external collaboration
• Translate product requirements into clear engineering requirements and narratives
• Maintain engineering BOMs and tracking through production release
• Establish and manage configuration framework and revision control
• Oversee risk and reliability analysis across the product
• Define system-level interfaces, tolerances, and buildable engineering packages
• Set engineering quality criteria and oversee approvals and third-party reviews
• Guide prototyping and first-article builds and incorporate findings into production design
• Represent engineering in cross-functional design reviews and resolve manufacturability feedback
• Make program-level technical tradeoff decisions within established standards
• Provide technical input to product requirements owned by Design team
