Job summary

Safran Electrical & Power in Sarasota, FL is seeking a Product Support Specialist to serve as a technical and training resource for manufacturing employees.   • Maintain training records and provide Supervisors all necessary items for any level changes.
  • Assist in developing and updating training materials, job aids, and visual work instructions.
  • Act as a resource for employees requiring clarification on processes, procedures, or work instructions.
  • Assist employees in locating the tools, documentation, and resources needed to perform tasks.
  • Support process changes and document control.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Support CAPAs and audit preparation.

Job Description

Summary: The Production Support Specialist serves as a technical and training resource for manufacturing employees. This role supports daily production operations by providing training, assisting with process-related questions, helping employees access necessary resources, and promoting adherence to standard work. To maintain product knowledge and remain closely connected to production operations, the Production Support Specialist will spend approximately 80% of their time building product and 20% of their time supporting training and technical activities. This balance ensures the specialist remains proficient in manufacturing processes while effectively supporting employee development and operational excellence.

The Production Support Specialist is not a supervisory position and does not perform employee management, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, scheduling, or work direction. The primary purpose of the role is to help employees perform their jobs safely, efficiently, and in compliance with established processes and quality requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work on the production floor and maintain proficiency in assigned manufacturing processes while meeting established productivity and efficiency expectations.
  • Conduct training on work instructions, standard operating procedures, and manufacturing processes.
  • Support onboarding and qualification of new employees.
  • Assist employees in understanding product requirements, process standards, and quality expectations.
  • Maintain training records and provide Supervisors all necessary items for any level changes.
  • Assist in developing and updating training materials, job aids, and visual work instructions.
  • Act as a resource for employees requiring clarification on processes, procedures, or work instructions.
  • Assist employees in locating the tools, documentation, and resources needed to perform assigned tasks.
  • Assist with implementation and communication of process changes.
  • Support document control and ensure current documentation is available at point of use.
  • Assist Supervisor in maintaining visual management systems and production boards (i.e. QRQC).
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Support implementation and sustainment of approved process improvements.
  • Assist with production issue resolution through established escalation channels.
  • Support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Support audit preparation and compliance activities.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as necessary.
  • Additional work as necessary by the business.
Job Requirements
Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge/Skills
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts and tool sets as they relate to production processes and improvements.
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing technologies and processes.
  • Quality systems and process compliance.
  • High proficiency in reading drawings / blueprints / test specifications.
  • Ability to carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Knowledge and experience in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to effectively train employees on product operations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in aerospace, industrial or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience delivering on-job-training.
  • Understanding of diverse manufacturing processes such as winding and/or assembly.
  • Ability to make intuitive leaps in applying technologies that present opportunities.
  • Highly versatile, able to shift gears easily from problem solving manufacturing processes to transactional process.
