Embrava connects digital systems with the physical environments where people spend their time, making information visible and actionable the moment it matters. Through products including Blynclight, Desk Sign, Room Sign, and Any Sign, we support more than 15,000 customers across 32 countries from our offices in the US, UK, and Australia. As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Hardware Support Engineer to be our in-house hardware expert.
The Role
We're looking for a Product Support Engineer to be Embrava's go-to person for understanding what's happening inside our hardware. You won't be designing or building boards from scratch, you'll be the one who can open something up, figure out what's actually wrong, and make an informed call on what needs to happen next, whether that's a quick fix, a flag to manufacturing, or an escalation to our design partners. This is a role for someone who knows their way around circuits and components and can think clearly under ambiguity.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the internal point of expertise for hardware issues across Embrava's product line, diagnosing problems as they come up
- Inspect and troubleshoot circuit boards, components, and assemblies to identify the root cause of failures or malfunctions
- Use bench equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers) to investigate issues and confirm fixes
- Assess whether an issue is a one-off, a batch/manufacturing defect, or a deeper design flaw, and recommend next steps to Engineering or manufacturing partners
- Read schematics, datasheets, and technical documentation to understand how products are built and translate that into plain-language findings for non-technical teams
- Support Support, Operations, and Product teams with hands-on hardware troubleshooting when an issue can't be resolved remotely
- Maintain internal documentation on known issues, common failure patterns, and troubleshooting steps
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience
- 3+ years of experience in electronics troubleshooting, hardware support, or a similar technical role
- Strong grounding in circuit fundamentals, with the ability to read and interpret schematics, datasheets, and PCB layouts
- Familiarity with PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, KiCad), you don't need to design boards yourself, but you should be able to read and navigate them
- Comfortable using bench equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers) to diagnose hardware issues
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound judgment on root cause and next steps
- Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical findings for non-technical stakeholders
Nice to Have
- Experience with connected/IoT devices or low-power embedded hardware
- Experience working directly with manufacturing partners on defect analysis or RMAs
- Background supporting a physical consumer or B2B hardware product
What We Offer
- Performance-based bonus opportunity, with clear paths to grow and take on more scope as you deliver
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus PTO covering vacation, personal, holiday, and sick days
- 100% paid parental leave, along with 401(k) and professional development support (including complimentary LinkedIn Learning access)
- An entrepreneurial, low-hierarchy environment with visibility to the leadership team and a real voice in how things get built
- A fast-growing company where you can grow quickly alongside it
