Job summary

Novelis in Bay Minette, Alabama is seeking a Product Performance Engineer to qualify and support aluminum beverage can and automotive sheet products. You will coordinate qualification programs, provide technical support, and serve as a bridge between manufacturing, commercial, and technical service teams to ensure successful product launch and lifecycle performance.

The role requires a bachelor’s in mechanical/chemical/materials engineering, 3 years in aluminum sheet or can-making, strong

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical or materials engineering.
• Minimum 3 years in aluminum sheet manufacturing or beverage can-making roles.
• Strong analytical skills with statistical analysis and process capability experience.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate across functions and locations.
• Willingness to travel domestically for customer qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Be a role model for safety and align with company safety principles.
• Coordinate qualification activities for new Beverage/Packaging products at Bay Minette.
• Act as Voice of the Customer, communicating requirements and outcomes.
• Coordinate transition of qualified products into commercial manufacturing.
• Monitor mechanical properties, gauge control, flatness, surface quality, and coating.
• Evaluate product performance against specifications and metrics.
• Provide technical support during investigations and incidents.
• Lead root cause investigations and drive corrective actions.
