Job summary

Skill is seeking an experienced Product Owner to own a mobile customer-facing app modernization initiative in New York. The role requires stepping into an existing mobile environment and delivering an MVP while guiding ongoing product ownership for the current app.

You will establish priorities, shape the roadmap, and advocate the Voice of the Customer, collaborating with mobile developers, architects, UX, and external vendors to decide go/no-go migrations.

Qualifications

• Product roadmap and backlog ownership, including feature prioritization, releases, and competing requirements.
• Strong Voice of the Customer experience, translating customer/business needs into clear product requirements and priorities.
• Cross-functional leadership and technical credibility, working directly with mobile developers, architects, UX, business teams, and external vendors.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive the mobile app modernization initiative, including MVP definition and go-to-market planning.
• Provide ongoing product ownership for the existing mobile app while transitioning to the new platform.
• Establish priorities and roadmap direction; guide decision-making on migration go/no-go.
• Represent Voice of the Customer in stakeholder discussions and ensure alignment with business goals.

Job description

Hybrid 2-3 days per week in Union Square. Seeking an experienced Product Owner with direct mobile application product ownership experience to support a major mobile app modernization initiative. Direct mobile application Product Owner experience is required. This is not intended to be a general Product Owner or web Product Owner search. The Product Owner will be dedicated to a mobile app refresh/rebuild initiative while also providing ongoing product ownership for the existing mobile application. The individual will help guide the development of a new MVP, establish priorities and roadmap direction, represent the Voice of the Customer, and ultimately help lead the go/no-go decision regarding migration from the existing application to the new platform. The role requires someone who can step into an existing mobile environment and contribute immediately. The initiative is currently in its early stages, so the Product Owner will have significant influence over the direction of the new application.

MUST HAVE technologies:

1. Mobile application platforms: Customer-facing iOS and/or Android experience; understanding of native vs. cross-platform development.
2. Mobile architecture & integrations: Understanding of APIs, backend integrations, authentication/security, and mobile architecture.
3. Mobile development lifecycle: Experience with mobile development teams, releases, enhancements, and application lifecycle management.

MUST HAVE Critical Skills:

1. Direct Mobile Application Product Owner experience with meaningful ownership of a customer-facing mobile app. Web-only/general Product Owner experience is not sufficient.
2. Product roadmap and backlog ownership, including feature prioritization, releases, and competing requirements.
3. Strong Voice of the Customer experience, translating customer/business needs into clear product requirements and priorities.
4. Cross-functional leadership and technical credibility, working directly with mobile developers, architects, UX, business teams, and external vendors.

NICE TO HAVE technologies / Skills:

1. React and/or React Native experience.
2. Cross-platform mobile development experience, particularly transitioning from native iOS/Android applications.
3. Mobile modernization, rebuild, or MVP experience, including launches, migrations, platform changes, or go/no-go decisions.
