Role Overview:
You will define, deliver, and manage the lifecycle of products supporting Transmission and Distribution Planning. Collaborate closely with business and technology stakeholders across utility planning functions. Lead product teams developing these products and contribute to funding management and budgeting processes.
Responsibilities:
- Define and manage product roadmap
- Build, groom, and prioritize the product backlog, managing expectations with stakeholders including senior leadership
- Manage the sprint planning process and participate in all relevant ceremonies (reviews, grooming, retrospectives)
- Develop a deep understanding of customer, worker, and user needs
- Gather market feedback through user interactions, focus groups, and industry research to support future development
- Write detailed functional specifications, user stories, and product documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams of developers, designers, and analysts to implement and deliver new products and features
- Work with the organization on vision, strategy, decision-making, tactical execution, and measurement systems
- Communicate roadmap stages and timelines internally with key stakeholders
Required Qualifications:
- Candidates should be local to a Duke territory for potential future conversion
- Strong understanding of Transmission and Distribution operations, planning processes, or related technology products
- Experience supporting Transmission Planning, Distribution Planning, grid modernization, or related utility product capabilities
- Experience as a Senior Product Analyst
- Agile Product Owner certification
- “Black Belt” Six Sigma certification
- Experience with Jira
- Entrepreneurial with a strong inclination towards action, preferably with experience shipping software
- Ability to communicate complex and innovative concepts to a new product development team
- Clear passion for topics of technology products and an ability to identify possibilities to innovate
- Ability to quickly develop domain expertise in Transmission and Distribution Planning and translate business needs into clear product priorities, user stories, and roadmap decisions
- Ability to be self-directed and proactively anticipate problems and seek opportunities
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to build relationships and effectively influence across all management and organizational levels
- Strong understanding of the SDLC process and the ability to work in an agile environment with bi-weekly releases
- Experience with relevant new product or technology development in a fast-paced environment
- Experience operating in an environment driven by KPIs with accountability to meet goals
