Job summary

Compass Group USA is seeking a Product Owner in Charlotte to maximize the value of financial data services products. You will align product portfolio with enterprise strategy and collaborate with product owners, data resources, and business owners to deliver value.

The role is hybrid in Charlotte, with in-office days typically Tue–Thu and flexibility based on business needs. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality and governance across financial data domains.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or computer sciences preferred.
  • 3–5 years of Accounting/Finance experience preferred in related value chains.
  • Experience with SAP and enterprise financial data is required.

  • Develop and maintain deep expertise in the data product and domain.

Job Summary

As a Product Owner, you will be responsible for maximizing the value of the product that the team builds. You will work closely with the product teams, customers, and stakeholders to ensure Financial Data Services products meet our business's needs and expectations. You will also collaborate with other product owners, technical and data resources, and business owners to align the product portfolio with the enterprise strategy.

*Please note, this is a hybrid position in Charlotte. The typical days in office are Tues-Thursday but can vary dependant on business need.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain deep expertise in the owned data product and business domain, serving as the primary source of knowledge and support for the broader project team and key stakeholders.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the financial processes, data domains, and downstream use cases supported by the product and facilitate decisions across disparate user groups.
  • Partner with the Product Manager to contribute to the product vision and strategic roadmap
  • Collaborate with the product management layer to thoroughly understand features for execution, ensuring they meet data quality, performance, usability, governance, and security standards.
  • Develop, scope, and define backlog items that guide the product team.
  • Create, manage, and validate user stories with the product team to ensure they meet the definition of being ready before each iteration.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities with a focus on delivering business value and user-centric solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Lead agile team to manage and prioritize the team backlog
  • Partner with Coaches to remove impediments for the Agile team and to model agile practices
  • Keep leadership up to date on team progress, risks, and impediments.
  • Function as primary liaison between business stakeholders, data engineering, analytics engineering, architecture, vendors, other cross-functional teams, and downstream consumers.
  • Provide quality advice on functionality and ensure well-thought-through analysis and deliverables.
  • Connect with the customer to validate data product design and business intent based on features provided by the product management team, execute system and solution demos, and ensure business value delivery.
  • Assist the Product Manager with leading continuous improvement and best practice initiatives.
  • Develop strong business relationships, influence stakeholders, and partner with others to develop superior solutions.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to the development teams on SAFe Agile principles and practices.
  • Coordinate with other product teams for end-to-end and downstream solution validation testing.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or computer sciences, preferred
  • 3-5 years of Accounting/Finance experience preferred, preferably in customer-to-cash, procure to pay, or record-to-report value chains.
  • Experience with enterprise financial data and SAP, specifically FI, SD, MM, IM, EWM, AM, AP, AR, CO or PCA modules; S/4HANA experience a plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Product Owner.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to define and deliver products that meet customer needs and expectations and achieve business goals and objectives.
  • Strong analytical and facilitation skills, with the ability to communicate technical and process information effectively to business and IT stakeholders.
  • Experience with the tools and technologies, such as ADO and Miro.
  • Certification as a SAFe Agile Product Owner or SAFe Agile Practitioner is a plus.
  • Performs analysis and critical thinking required to troubleshoot application-related issues and assist in the resolution.
