Position: Product Owner
Pay Status and Classification: Exempt, Regular Full-time
Supervisor Title: Director of Product Management
Work Location: Remote in New York or Texas. If in New York and local to the company headquarters in Schenectady, NY, there are days the Product Owner is expected to be in the office for meetings.
Position Purpose
The Product Owner plays a vital role in product development, ensuring that products meet client needs and expectations. They gather detailed requirements and develop new features and products. The Product Owner prioritizes and refines items within the backlog, sprints, and releases. Additionally, they lead refinement, planning, and review meetings with the Development teams and stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and prioritizes a large development backlog with regularly changing priorities.
- Collaborates with development teams, QA, and Scrum Masters to build and evaluate new features and products.
- Prepares and presents complex designs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Leads and participates in Scrum ceremonies such as Refinement, Sprint Planning, and Reviews.
- Performs user and product research by engaging with stakeholders and gaining expertise in relevant technologies and concepts.
- Creates and critiques UI/UX artifacts to ensure user-friendly navigation and cohesive product design.
- Motivates development teams to meet sprint commitments and quality standards.
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Experience
- At least 4 years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or in a Scrum environment.
- Experience working directly with software development teams, including international teams.
- Knowledge of UI/UX principles for mobile and web applications.
- Understanding of Scrum and Agile methodologies.
- Experience in logistics, education, public safety, or fleet maintenance fields is a plus.
Physical and Driving Requirements
- Sitting for prolonged periods and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
- Ability to distinguish between colors.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to travel to various locations for software testing.
Salary Range
$80,000 - $130,000, based on experience and other factors.
