We are looking for a motivated Data Lake Technical Product Owner with a strong foundation in data products and data ownership. The ideal candidate will be able to develop the strategic vision for a financial organization’s new centralized data repository but also have hands‑on experience in data governance and technical requirements of such a platform. They will bridge technical teams and business & operations stakeholders, ensuring the data platform is scalable, secure, and provides high-quality data to drive analytics, client reporting and regulatory submissions. They will also thrive in a flat organizational structure in a company undergoing multiple technical reengineering efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or relevant work experience).
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy & Roadmap: Define and maintain the vision, roadmap, and prioritization of features for the data platform.
- Data Governance & Security: Author, build consensus around and enforce policies for data privacy, compliance, and data classification.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary interface for users, translating business needs into technical user stories for engineers.
- Data Quality & Cataloging: Ensure data ingested is reliable, documented, and properly cataloged for accessibility.
- Operational Excellence: Monitor data pipeline performance, optimize costs, and manage the technical lifecycle of the platform.
Experience Required
Must Have
- Financial Domain Knowledge: Experience with Equities & Equities trading, with broad knowledge across the domain.
- Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure), data warehousing, SQL, and data engineering principles.
- Product Management: Experience with Agile methodologies, backlog prioritization, and defining KPIs.
- Business Acumen: Ability to align technical data initiatives with business objectives and value.
- Communication: Strong skills to bridge the gap between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
Good to Have
- Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Delta Lake or other data lake platforms
- Hybrid data architecture spanning on‑prem and cloud environments.
- Knowledge of CRM platforms (Saleforce, etc) and experience integrating sales, trading and CRM data to drive business insights.
- Certifications from relevant professional organizations, such as:
- CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional)
- DCAM (Data Management Capability Assessment Model)
