Data Product Owner - Financial Risk (100% REMOTE)
Position Overview:
Optomi, in partnership with a leading foodservice distributor, is seeking a highly strategic and collaborative Data Product Owner to lead the development and delivery of data products supporting the Finance and Replenishment domains. This role will serve as the critical bridge between senior business stakeholders and technical data teams, with a focus on financial risk visibility and data integration. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with deep finance domain expertise, able to translate business needs into actionable data requirements while managing product delivery across cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the product roadmap and backlog for finance and replenishment data products, ensuring alignment with business goals and value delivery.
- Act as the voice of the customer, translating finance and supply chain requirements into detailed technical stories for data engineering and analytics teams.
- Lead Agile ceremonies, manage priorities, and ensure timely delivery of high-impact features and enhancements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Finance, IT, Data Engineering, and the Replenishment organization to define product vision and manage expectations.
- Ensure that data pipelines and reporting tools meet accuracy, timeliness, and usability standards.
- Define success metrics, track ROI, and continuously optimize data products for business impact.
- Maintain clear and effective communication across all levels—able to manage up to leadership and down to development teams.
- Identify and escalate blockers, avoiding technical debt and ensuring alignment with future roadmap planning.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in Product Ownership, Product Management, or Business/Data Consulting roles focused on data or financial products.
- Strong understanding of financial processes, reporting, and systems; able to speak the language of finance and communicate with senior finance stakeholders.
- Familiarity with enterprise data tools such as Snowflake, DBT, Tableau, FiveTran, or similar.
- Demonstrated ability to lead without direct authority and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Skilled at balancing detail with big-picture strategy and filtering complex communication across business and technical audiences.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of summarizing complex topics for executive-level audiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with supply chain or replenishment data.
- Agile or SAFe certifications.
- Proficiency in tools such as Jira, Confluence, Visio, or LucidChart.
- Industry experience in eCommerce, food distribution, or finance technology a plus.
