primary functions:
The Product Owner will lead the IT delivery of initiatives by using Agile methodology. The Product owner will be empowered and accountable to drive specific business and technology outcomes such as improving the member experience, implementing regulatory and compliance changes, increasing business operational efficiency, launching new enhancement, and retiring legacy systems while aligning tactical decisions with strategic architectural principles. The ideal incumbent will be strategic, innovative, and creative with a solid analytic foundation. Also, this role will work with department heads, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to review business process flows, feasibility, cost analysis, and trends. Develop functional and participate in production of technical specifications and documentation related to ticket and project requests.
responsibilities:
- Take high level requests and formalize business justification, requirements, and develop best practice functional specifications with focus on security, business needs, industry standards and trends, scalability, and speed to market.
- Meet with various departments regularly to review processes and update teams on in-flight activities or clarify questions about items in the backlog.
- Participate and gather appropriate resources for backlog grooming sessions.
- Identify areas of potential efficiency, automation, and improvement throughout all areas of financial services.
- Assist in developing key performance indicators to track product/project success post go-live and tracking if changes need to be made post launch.
- Develop deep knowledge of financial services technology, products, services, and existing infrastructure at the credit union.
- Meet with vendors that may assist project plan or own the technology stack used or may be used in the future to stay aware of technology roadmaps, capabilities, and limitations.
- Assist in developing test and deployment plan as part of the technical requirements gathering process.
- Take product initiatives work with architecture, user experience and various engineering teams to define software releases and features and oversee end to end software development and release process.
- Work closely with training, review software changes, help with questions from business members facing team related to technology and software launches.
- Lead regular software and service reviews with leadership and maintain key metrics for review across the business identified as important to measure success of the release.
- Maintain a documented view of competition and use data to support the development of differentiated software and IT services.
- Collaborate with strategy team to establish the go-to market strategy for products, target prospective customers, and exploit competitive differentiators.
- Comply with all Federal regulations, Credit Union policies and procedures, including Bank Secrecy and the USA Patriot Act.
- Perform job duties in accordance with the Credit Union's values, mission and vision.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- BA/BS Degree in Computer Science, Information technology, Business or similar.
- Minimum of 5 years experience with financial services vertical.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to articulate ideas and plans clearly to a diverse audience.
- Minimum of 4 years experience in Project Management, Agile methodologies, and functional requirement gathering.
- Knowledge of both cloud based and on-premises systems and capabilities.
- Preferred Experience: Jack Henry Symitar, Credit Union, and Database Technologies.
- Ability to work on a team in order to find solutions to complex issues, and break processes down to micro-services/projects.
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
- Able to receive and maintain confidentiality.
