Job summary

Skyla Credit Union in Charlotte, NC is seeking a friendly Teller to support daily transactions and member service. Under supervision, you will handle deposits, withdrawals, checks, and payments, while maintaining accuracy and compliance with policies.

You will greet members, promote CU products, process Visa payments, and balance cash drawers daily. A high school diploma and basic computer skills are required; retail teller experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Six months retail teller or retail experience preferred.
  • Must have basic computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Outlook.
  • Ability to interact professionally with members and teammates.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and handles deposits of all types, ensuring proper endorsement on negotiable instruments.
  • Greet and welcome members and visitors, provide prompt, efficient, and accurate service in processing transactions.
  • Adheres to check cashing and deposit hold policies and all job-related policies.
  • Comply with federal regulations and credit union policies, including Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Issues official checks and handles cash withdrawals.
  • Processes Visa payments and cash advances, as well as coin transactions.
  • Assist with member record updates and change of addresses/phone numbers.
  • Balance cash drawers daily and report results; open and post night drop deposits as needed.
  • Educate members on credit union products and services.

primary functions:

Under the direction of the Branch Manager, Assistant Branch Manager or Lead Teller, perform a variety of duties related to all phases of teller work, including proper receiving and disbursing of withdrawals, checks, deposits and payments. Maintain compliance with all credit union policies and procedures. Provide a positive and efficient member service experience.

responsibilities:
  • Receives and handles deposits of all types, ensuring the proper endorsement on negotiable instruments within these deposits.
  • Greet and welcome members and visitors to the credit union in a professional manner. Provide prompt, efficient, and accurate service in the processing of transactions.
  • Adheres at all times to the “check cashing policy” and “deposit hold policy” and all policies related to job responsibilities.
  • Comply with all federal regulations, credit union policies and procedures, including Bank Secrecy and the USA Patriot Act.
  • Issues official checks.
  • Handles the disbursement of cash withdrawals.
  • Processes Visa payments and cash advances.
  • Processes coin transactions.
  • Assist with the file maintenance on change of addresses and phone numbers.
  • Balances cash drawers each day within the “Cash Balancing Standards” and reports results by the end of each business day.
  • Under dual control opens and post night drop deposits daily.
  • Consistently demonstrates a helpful, friendly attitude.
  • Looks for opportunities to effectively educate members on the features and benefits of Credit Union products and services.
  • Maintains proper amounts of currency and coin in till.
  • Understands role in case of robbery, whether victim or bystander, and knows proper Robbery procedures.
  • Knowledgeable of disaster recovery plan and post-disaster procedures.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area and ensures that all negotiable and confidential records are properly secured.
  • Comply with all Federal regulations, Credit Union policies and procedures, including Bank Secrecy and the USA Patriot Act.
  • Perform job duties in accordance with the Credit Union's values, mission and vision.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Six months retail teller or retail experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a desire to interact with members.
  • Ability to handle high volume of transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Must have basic computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Outlook.
