Job Summary
The primary goal of the Product Line Manager is to conduct and oversee the efforts to increase market share and drive profitable growth through the introduction of new, and the enhancement of existing products. Leads the Product Lifecycle for all products in the Food and Beverage markets for Jabil Packaging Solutions. Works cross-functionally to design and develop new products, launch new products, manage the margin profile, and eventual rationalization. Supports quoting efforts. Will support project stage-gate reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsible for Product roadmap planning, market investigation and assessment, training Business teams and overall product vision.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Find, expand, and exploit product opportunities.
- Develop detailed Business Plan analysis on product investment strategies for executive management.
- Gather market intelligence through customer interaction and other sources and disseminate throughout the team.
- Create competitive analysis and interpret market trends.
- Work closely with Marketing team to develop marketing activities and documents (PR, email communications, sample and promotional programs, tradeshows/events) within Application Field and Market; or Cross-Market activities (catalogs, tradeshows/events).
- Interface with customers for business development and market understanding, conducting customer interviews and user testing.
- Work with NPI team to define and solution requirements and configurations.
- Work with Sales and BU leaders to align on market needs, target customers, and strategy for market penetration.
- Work with the Sales and BU organization to develop account strategies with specific objectives and action items.
- Work with marketing for product features/benefits and corresponding collateral.
- Participate in off-site transfer planning, training, and start-ups to manage successful launch.
- Manage relationships with contract agencies.
- Contribute to the cost management effort by supporting forecast review and visibility to changes in budget.
- Manage typical transfer challenges and cultural barriers to facilitate successful product lifecycle management.
- Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems.
- Set market pricing for product launch and manage costs to maximize profit margin of product portfolio.
- Demonstrate a commitment to customer service; anticipate, meet, and exceed expectations by solving problems quickly and effectively; making customer issues a priority.
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Work concurrently with Program management, Design Engineering, Business Unit Management, Manufacturing, Test, Purchasing, and Quality departments through various phases of a lifecycle.
- Work cross-functionally to provide a product design that not only meets the market’s criteria but is also of high quality, cost-effective, and manufacturable.
- Provide Business Unit Management/Business Development/PM’s/Functional Mgt. with timely and accurate VAVE options.
- Create and present sales, technical service, and customer support or training to drive regional sales.
- Develop pricing strategies for new products for maximizing the profits and/or share of the market and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Provide guidance and direction for custom opportunities utilizing our newest products and technologies to maximize profit.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Degree in Business, Marketing, or Engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 7-10 years work-related experience required, preferably in an NPI, product management, or project management.
- Experience with plastic injection molding and/or fiber molding preferred.
- Previous cross-functional team leadership experience.
- Or a combination of education, experience and/or training.
