Job summary

IDR, Inc. is seeking a Product Manager for IoT hardware in Coppell, TX.

You will navigate between engineering design reviews, prototype testing, and customer store visits, asking strong questions and steering teams toward solving the customer problem. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years in hardware/IoT product management, familiarity with wireless tech, and experience with retail technologies and mechanical development.

Qualifications

• 3+ years leading product teams for hardware or IoT products.
• Experience with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, RFID, or cellular wireless tech.
• Knowledge of sensor tech and connected-device architectures.
• Experience in Retail environments with Retail technologies.
• Familiarity with mechanical development including molding, materials, tooling, and enclosures.

Responsibilities

• Translate customer needs into hardware product requirements.
• Participate in design reviews and prototype testing.
• Engage with customers during store visits to validate problems.
• Collaborate with engineering, design, and manufacturing teams to balance tradeoffs.
• Ensure focus on customer problems throughout development.

Position Overview for the Product Manager – IoT Hardware

Candidates should be comfortable moving between an engineering design review, a prototype test, and a customer store visit. They do not need to be an engineer, but they should understand hardware development well enough to ask strong questions, evaluate tradeoffs, and keep teams focused on the customer problem.

Required Skills for the Product Manager – IoT Hardware

• 3+ years of experience in a Product Manager role working with hardware, IoT devices, and/or connected products
• Experience with wireless technologies such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, RFID, UWB, cellular, or similar technologies
• Familiarity with sensor technologies and connected-device architectures
• Strong experience working in a Retail environment with Retail technologies
• Familiarity with mechanical product development, including injection molding, materials, tooling, and enclosure design
