Job description

Company Overview

At Modernize (a QuinStreet division) our mission is to simplify home improvement by inspiring motivated homeowners and connecting them with qualified contractors. Our foundation is based on 20 years as a driving force as Home Improvement Leads in online lead generation – connecting homeowners with high–quality contractors – in the $500 billion annually grossing home improvement market. We’re working hard on a new brand and new products to cater to homeowners and the most successful contractors in the industry.

We’re looking for sharp, motivated individuals to join our growing team. Teammates who enjoy using technology to solve problems will thrive in our dynamic startup environment. We have an open floor plan that encourages the entire team to participate in critical discussions and allows everyone to be a vital contributing factor. You’ll enjoy our hip, newly renovated office in the heart of downtown with a view of the capital and the downtown skyline.

Job Category

Modernize Home Services is seeking an experienced Product Manager to accelerate the roadmap for our Appointments product — the experience that lets homeowners book appointments directly with home services contractors across our client base. This role will help shape the capabilities, reach, and impact of appointment solutions for both our homeowner (B2C) and contractor (B2B) audiences. You’ll serve as a critical bridge between the contractor experience, homeowner experience, engineering, and operations, owning what drives the product’s success and turning it into action. You’ll work closely with subject matter experts across the business to deeply understand the product landscape, validate assumptions through product discovery and testing, and translate insights into clear, actionable priorities. This is an ideal fit for a builder who pairs bold product vision with relentless execution. You’re proactive by nature, able to construct a strong roadmap from the ground up with a sharp eye toward market opportunity, and unafraid to think and act big to drive real, platform-level growth. You’re also fluent in both the consumer and business sides of the home services space, bringing genuine competitive and market research chops to the table.

Responsibilities
Product Strategy and Vision
  • Build and own the Appointment product and solutions roadmap, translating company objectives into actionable, KPI-driven priorities that balance speed and quality.
  • Bring deep fluency in the appointment-booking space from both the homeowner and contractor sides, grounded in strong competitor and market research.
  • Define clear success metrics for the scheduler funnel and hold the team accountable to outcomes, not just output.
Product Execution
  • Lead new product and feature rollouts from discovery through implementation and scale.
  • Craft clear, comprehensive PRDs that communicate requirements, acceptance criteria, and technical needs in ways that enable swift and seamless engineering execution.
  • Partner closely with product, engineering, and design to ship high-quality improvements reliably and on time.
  • Drive adoption of appointment-booking products and features by identifying and removing friction in key customer workflows, and having direct conversations with clients about how the product is performing against their business goals.
  • Optimize existing products and features for better consumer usability, conversion rates, and client adoption.
Testing and Experimentation
  • Design and execute rigorous A/B tests and controlled experiments to validate product hypotheses.
  • Analyze results with precision, making sharp, data-informed decisions on what to scale, optimize, or cut.
  • Maintain an agile “ship-and-learn” mentality — moving with speed while holding a clear bar for product quality — with the ability to quickly redirect and pivot from underperforming experiments.
AI-Powered Solutions
  • Leverage AI tools and platforms to automate workflows across the scheduler product and operations to drive efficiency and speed.
  • Prototype and test product concepts using AI tools (Claude, Cursor, etc.) to rapidly validate ideas and communicate vision to cross-functional teams.
Product Analytics and Insights
  • Run and present product analytics reports that track and create visibility into core KPIs.
  • Use data to inform roadmap prioritization and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Command stakeholder conversations with sharp reporting of results and insights, paired with clear, actionable next steps that get teams moving fast on learnings.
Cross-Functional Leadership and Communication
  • Serve as the bridge across engineering, design, product, and marketing — rallying stakeholders around a clear plan, even when priorities compete, to drive real, meaningful change.
  • Communicate roadmap strategy and hard tradeoffs to executives and stakeholders with enough clarity and precision that people trust it and act on it.
  • Remove blockers and keep complex workflows, timelines, and dependencies organized with discipline, so teams stay aligned and moving forward.
Requirements
  • 4+ years of product management experience, with a track record of managing multiple products or features simultaneously.
  • Roadmap-building expertise; demonstrated ability to turn ambiguous, multi-layered problems into clear, actionable priorities.
  • Proven ability to design, execute, and analyze A/B tests and data-driven experiments to inform product decisions.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills; comfortable making decisions with imperfect data.
  • Demonstrated experience with product analytics platforms and metrics (adoption, churn, NPS, engagement).
  • Excellent communicator who can align and activate cross-functional teams, as well as clearly articulate roadmap strategy, progress, and tradeoffs.
  • Confident speaking directly with clients about product performance and its impact on their business.
  • Experience in agile or fast-paced environments with the judgment to balance speed of execution against product quality.
  • Hands‑on proficiency with AI tools to both build AI-powered features into products and create automation workflows that accelerate day‑to‑day productivity.
  • A self‑starter who takes ownership without waiting to be asked, and manages up effectively with leadership.
  • Strong foundation in hypothesis‑driven experimentation frameworks and statistical rigor in A/B testing.
Preferred
  • Experience in home services, lead generation, or B2B marketplace products.
  • Proficiency with product analytics tools like Heap and Growthbook.
  • Hands‑on experience building PRDs and technical specifications for engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with Claude AI or similar AI tools for rapid prototyping and product validation.
