Job summary

Thermon Industries, Inc. is seeking a Product Manager for Thermon Heating Systems (THS) to oversee product lines through the full lifecycle from market analysis to commercialization. The role may be based at the Morristown plant and reports to the Senior Manager, Product Management.

You will develop roadmaps, define market-research needs, and collaborate with sales, engineering, and manufacturing to bring products to market, while shaping pricing and lifecycle plans.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 7 years' experience in a complex, technical environment (preferably industrial market) in product management.
  • Working knowledge of industry market and size.
  • Comfortable presenting in large groups to management and executive leadership.
  • Experience negotiating complex projects and contract terms with customers.
  • Experience dealing with customer complaints and leading resolution of critical issues.

Responsibilities

  • Determines customers' needs by specifying the research needed to obtain market information.
  • Assess market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products.
  • Develop and maintain product roadmaps.
  • Provide source data for product line communications by defining product marketing communication objectives.
  • Obtain product market share by working with sales leadership to develop product sales strategies.
  • Assess product market data by calling on customers with field sales team and evaluate sales call results.
  • Provide information for management by preparing short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and analyses.
  • Facilitate inventory turnover and product availability by reviewing inventory levels and production schedules.
  • Bring new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and development programs; establish schedules with engineering and manufacturing.
  • Introduce and market new products by developing time-integrated plans with sales, advertising, and production.
  • Determine product pricing by utilizing market research data; review costs; anticipate volume; handle costs of special orders.
  • Understand product quality and customer satisfaction; drive sustaining and continuous improvement.
  • Plan for product obsolescence and end-of-life; drive related activities and communication.

Job Title: Product Manager, Thermon Heating Systems (THS)

Reports to: Senior Manager, Product Management

Overview

Responsible for managing THS Thermon Heating Systems product lines throughout the product life cycle from marketanalysis to product planning to new product commercialization in support of organizational strategy and objectives. This role may be based out of our manufacturing facility located at 5727 Superior Dr., Morristown, TN 37814 and reports directly to the Senior Manager, Product Management.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Determines customers' needs and desires by specifying the research needed to obtain market information.
  • Assess market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products.
  • Recommend the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements; appraise new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes.
  • Develop and maintain product roadmaps.
  • Provide source data for product line communications by defining product marketing communication objectives.
  • Obtain product market share by working with sales leadership to develop product sales strategies.
  • Assess product market data by calling on customers with field sales team and evaluate sales call results.
  • Provide information for management by preparing short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and special reports and analyses; answer questions and requests.
  • Facilitate inventory turnover and product availability by reviewing and adjusting inventory levels and production schedules.
  • Bring new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs; prepare return-on-investment analyses; establish schedules with engineering and manufacturing.
  • Introduce and market new products by developing time-integrated plans with sales, advertising, and production.
  • Determine product pricing by utilizing market research data; review production and sales costs; anticipate volume; handle costs of special and customized orders.
  • Understand product quality and customer satisfaction. Drive sustaining and continuous improvement efforts to address quality and satisfaction issues.
  • Plan for product obsolescence and end-of-life strategy. Drive activities and communication related to decommissioning and end-of-life.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 7 years' experience in a complex, technical environment (preferably industrial market) in product management.
  • Working knowledge of industry market and size.
  • Comfortable presenting in large groups to management and executive leadership.
  • Experience negotiating complex projects and contract terms with customers.
  • Experience dealing with customer complaints and leading resolution of critical issues.
