Dow invites applications for a Counsel in its Litigation group. The preferred location is Midland, MI, with Houston, TX also considered. The role involves litigation management for Dow and affiliates, including asbestos personal injury and other product liability matters.

Responsibilities include providing independent legal counsel, drafting documents, managing external counsel, budgeting, strategy, settlements, and participation in depositions and trials. Domestic relocation is available.

Formación

• Juris doctor or Master of Laws is required.
• Minimum of 7 years practicing as an attorney.
• Admission to State Bar or eligible for admission.
• Willing and able to travel up to 25% annually to meet business needs.
• U.S. work authorization: no visa sponsorship is available.

Responsabilidades

• Independently provide legal counsel to clients.
• Provide client legal training and education on a variety of topics.
• Review and draft legal documents.
• Actively manage external counsel and experts.
• Collaborate with internal legal subject matter experts and other Company resources.
• Oversee paralegals and administrative staff in the Legal Department and coordinate with business and functional clients within Dow and its affiliated companies concerning discovery.
• Establish and monitor expense budgets.
• Set strategic direction for each case and related docket of cases.
• Develop and implement settlement strategies.
• Proactively communicate to Legal Department management and clients.
• Participate directly in key depositions, hearings and trials.
• Oversee appellate issues.
