Job summary

Ptc Alliance is seeking a Product Launch Engineer in Darlington Township, Pennsylvania. This role involves technical functions ensuring quality product delivery to meet customer specifications. Responsibilities include collaborating with manufacturing and sales teams, supporting process improvements, and conducting product trials.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and at least 2 years of experience in product development, preferably in the steel or automotive industries. Strong knowledge of CAD software and statistical methods is required.

Job Summary

The Product Launch Engineer is a member of the Product Development Group. The Engineer is responsible for those technical and development functions to ensure PTC effectively provides quality products meeting customers’ specifications and requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Support plant and company manufacturing process capability improvement activities related to product and material capabilities.
  • Involve in the front-end product realization processes, including customer specifications, feasibility, product contract and specification review, and Oracle Item builds.
  • Participate in product and manufacturing trials in support of product development.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Planning, Operations, Metallurgy, and customers to properly design and manufacture products.
  • Collect, analyze and report data and analysis results related to product development and plant process improvements, using statistical methods when required.
  • Develop reports, procedures and training materials as needed.
  • Plan, organize, and schedule work efficiently, focusing on key priorities.
  • Maintain attention to detail and keep important details on track.
  • Apply analytical skills to structure and process qualitative and quantitative data and draw insightful conclusions; provide analysis to management and staff.
  • Follow through on commitments, abiding by verbal and written agreements and meeting deadlines.
  • Communicate competently in technical and business contexts.
  • Learn and question status quo to improve effectiveness; take on new assignments.
  • Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with the PTC Quality Management System and its policies, procedures, and work instructions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years experience in product development and/or technical services (steel, tubular, or automotive industries preferred).
  • Experience with steelmaking, metalworking and fabricating processes.
  • Comprehensive understanding of GD&T and ability to interpret drawings.
  • Familiarity with 2D/3D CAD (Siemens Solid Edge or equivalent).
  • AIAG & PPAP experience.
  • Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Hands‑on gauge usage and product inspection.
  • Hands‑off CNC or CMM programming is a plus.
  • Materials knowledge, specifically steel metallurgy, is a plus.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn company ERP software.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Mathematical skills including probability, statistical inference, geometry, trigonometry, and basic algebra.
  • Reasoning and problem‑solving ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Interpret extensive technical instructions and specifications, including drawings.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

The role occasionally involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, moderate to high noise levels in manufacturing areas, and requires standing, walking, reaching, talking or hearing, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds. The employee must abide by plant safety rules, PPE requirements, and may need to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch as described.
