Job summary

Elastic, the Search AI Company, seeks a proactive Corporate Counsel to shape how Elastic's technologies are built, protected, and brought to market. You will partner with product and engineering teams from ideation to launch, advising on IP, AI governance, licensing, and regulatory readiness across US/Canada.

The role emphasizes patent prosecution, open-source compliance, and strategic IP management while aligning with business goals and risk controls.

Qualifications

• 2-5+ years of experience in patent prosecution and/or IP/product law.
• Experience with software/SaaS/open-source environments preferred.
• Admission to US or Canadian Patent Bar required; JD from US/LLB from Canadian law school preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support patent prosecution and invention harvesting.
• Manage global patent, copyright, and trademark portfolios.
• Assist with open-source licensing and software compliance programs.
• Provide product regulatory governance and launch readiness support.
• Draft and review commercial IP clauses and data rights provisions.
• Assist with trade compliance and due diligence.
