Job summary

Ricoh Electronics, Inc. is seeking a Product Development Engineer to join the Industrial Media Solutions division, driving R&D across the full lifecycle of thermal media products—from design through continuous improvement.

You will design materials and formulations, conduct lab experiments, review patents, source raw materials, and lead scale-up trials, requiring a chemistry degree and 2–4 years’ hands-on experience. Strong project management and collaboration skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Chemistry or related field.
• 2-4 years’ experience in research and development.
• Hands-on experience in a laboratory environment.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Basic knowledge of non-durable product supply chain and industries related to thermal media, such as printers and ink.
• Strong analytical, math and problem solving skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and execute projects within established timelines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new products by researching materials and formulations.
• Conduct patent reviews to support product development.
• Design and execute lab experiments to evaluate materials.
• Source and evaluate raw materials for cost reduction.
• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for product development.
• Lead pilot-scale and production-scale trials and analyze data.
• Investigate issues related to product formulation and design; recommend actions.
• Prepare BOMs and product specifications; manage paperwork.
• Provide on-site technical support during new product launches.
