Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

REI is seeking a talented Product Development Engineer to join our Industrial Media Solutions (IMS) division. In this role, you will use your technical expertise to drive research and development projects that support the full lifecycle of our thermal media products—from design and implementation through continuous improvement.

The Product Development Engineer will:

  • Design and develop new and improved products by researching materials, optimizing processes and developing formulations to meet customer requirements and support market needs.
  • Conduct patent reviews to support product and formulation development.
  • Design and execute laboratory experiments to evaluate products, materials and formulations.
  • Research, source and evaluate raw materials for product development, product improvement and cost-reduction projects.
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for product development and innovation.
  • Lead pilot-scale and production-scale trials, analyze process data and establish process specifications.
  • Investigate production and customer application issues related to product formulation and product design, identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Analyze data and communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders through presentations and technical reports.
  • Establish and manage paperwork such as Bill of Materials, product specifications, etc.
  • Provide on-site technical support during new product launches to ensure successful implementation and identify application or performance issues.
Qualifications
Education
Required

Bachelors or better in Chemistry or related field.

Experience
Required

2-4 years’ experience in research and development required.

Hands-on experience in a laboratory environment.

Strong project management and organizational skills

Basic knowledge of non-durable product supply chain and industries related to thermal media, such as printers and ink.

Strong analytical, math and problem solving skills.

Good written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and execute projects within established timelines.Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Preferred

Experience in thermal media industry, web handling, paper, silicone coating and adhesive coating technology is preferred.
