Job summary

Cummins Inc. is seeking a student intern to contribute to engineering design decisions and problem solving. You will engage with design reviews, cross-functional teams, and documentation to support product development from concept to final design.

Responsibilities include applying design processes, supporting verification and validation, and learning from experienced engineers. Must reside in the continental U.S. and commit to 4–12 months, 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Must be a full-time enrolled student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at an accredited U.S. college/university.
• Minimum 2.5 GPA preferred.
• Must be able to complete a minimum of 4–6 months or a maximum of 12 months commitment.
• Must be able to complete 40 hours per week.
• Willingness to learn from others on the job.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to investigating program team or field-based issues and document results.
• Support execution of Critical Design Decisions, Design Review, and related checklists and tools to enable high-quality design decisions.
• Assist in communicating design concepts through thorough design reviews to PPT, VPI, or VPCR teams.
• Support concept selection, optimization, and design specification activities affecting product targets.
• Assist with problem resolution for moderately complex components and systems under supervision.
