Job summary

Neogen in Lansing, MI is seeking a Product Engineer to join the Product Engineering team. You will apply hands-on microbiology experience to improve commercialized products, support process changes, investigate technical issues, and help build manufacturing and laboratory capability.

You will own project workstreams, collaborate across functions, prepare protocols and reports, and contribute to design records and product standards. Onsite role with Lean Six Sigma-driven improvement culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or related discipline.
• Hands-on microbiology laboratory experience in a technical setting.
• Experience designing, executing, and interpreting studies.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and analyze experimental plans to support product improvements, process changes, technical investigations, and verification activities.
• Use microbiological principles, scientific methods, and data analysis to evaluate product and process performance.
• Own defined project workstreams and move technical work from testing through conclusions, recommendations, and implementation support.
• Support material qualifications, manufacturing changes or transfers, product refreshes, and continuity-of-supply projects.
• Contribute data and technical rationale to Design Specification Records, product standards, and material or supply specifications.
• Partner across functions to investigate issues and implement improvements.
• Prepare clear protocols, technical reports, and presentations.
• Support a Lean Six Sigma-oriented continuous improvement culture by using data and structured problem solving to improve quality, service, cost, process capability, and ways of working.
