Job summary

Neogen in California is seeking a Senior Product Engineer to lead microbiology product lines, own design specs, guide cross-functional decisions, and mentor others. You will apply Lean Six Sigma thinking and drive lifecycle management from development through launch in a regulated environment.

This onsite role emphasizes data-driven decisions, material specifications, and continuous improvement to ensure quality, supply continuity, and product excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related scientific discipline with 5+ years of technical experience or equivalent.
• Hands-on microbiology knowledge applied to products, processes or labs.
• Experience designing experiments, interpreting data and making technical recommendations.
• Experience leading technical projects and cross-functional workstreams.
• Experience defining or supporting product/material specifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex product and process improvement projects for microbiology product lines.
• Define experimental strategies and lead studies supporting changes and lifecycle decisions.
• Serve as SME for products, methods, and manufacturing processes.
• Own and maintain Design Specification Records for product lines.
• Define specifications for raw materials, components, and inputs.
• Assess changes and define studies for qualification and implementation.
• Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis, drive solutions.
• Guide cross-functional teams through change management and transfers.
• Use scientific, statistical, and risk-based methods to evaluate data.
• Identify future improvement opportunities and mentor engineers.
