Job summary

Smart Energy Water in Irvine/Newport Beach area is seeking an experienced Data Engineer / BI specialist to design, develop and implement data models, ETL processes and BI solutions for the SEW platform. You will work on cross-product data integration, data warehousing concepts and cloud-based architectures.

The ideal candidate has 4–6 years in data modeling and 2–3 years in ETL, with experience in Talend, Informatica, Datastage and NoSQL like MongoDB.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in data modeling (conceptual, logical and physical data models).
• 2-3 years of ETL experience using Talend, Informatica, Datastage.
• 4-6 years as a database developer with focus on data integration.
• Exposure to NoSql technology, preferably MongoDB.
• Experience with Big Data platforms and data warehousing concepts.
• Ability to handle sensitive data and document design requirements.
• Experience building data-intensive apps on cloud platforms like AWS and Azure.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide SME in database schema design and data modeling for product features.
• Review existing database design and data management procedures.
• Develop technical documentation as needed.
• Architect, develop, validate BI solutions like dashboards, reports, KPIs.
• Define data architecture requirements for cross-product integration.
• Analyze and support integrating data into the SEW platform from external sources (XML, CSV, XLS, etc.), APIs, RDBMS.
• Perform thorough analysis of complex data and recommend actionable strategies.
• Translate data modeling and BI requirements into the design process.
• Big Data platform design including tool selection, data integration, and data preparation for predictive modeling.
