Job description

Cumulus is a Quality Execution System (QES) that ensures critical construction and maintenance activities are done right the first time, every time. By integrating AI-powered workflows and connected IoT devices, the Cumulus QES improves the productivity and quality of critical work, such as bolt tightening, welding, and pressure testing.

To date, Cumulus has been used to manage over 15,000,000 work completions across industries such as energy, construction, manufacturing, semiconductors, data centers, transportation, chemicals, renewables, and more. In addition to improving safety and sustainability, our technology also has been proven to reduce costs for quality control and data review by over 60%.

Cumulus's transformative technology has been widely recognized in the industry, including the following awards and honors:

  • 2023 BuiltWorlds Americas Summit Demo Day Winner for Cumulus AI
  • 2022 BuiltWorlds Maverick Awards winner for Cumulus CEO Matthew Kleiman
  • 2021 BuiltWorlds Smart Jobsites 50 Leader List
  • 2020 IoT Breakthrough "IoT Startup of the Year" award
  • 2019 CNBC Upstart 100 list

Cumulus is headquartered in Auburndale, Massachusetts, with additional offices in Houston, Texas, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and serves customers across the globe.

About the Role

The Product Education Manager makes Cumulus easy to learn and adopt at scale - for our customers, our partners, and our own team.

You will select and launch our learning platform, build and operate Cumulus Academy, and establish a formal certification program for Cumulus users. You will sit on the Product team, reporting to the VP of Product, while working day to day alongside Professional Services in Houston. As the first dedicated education hire at Cumulus, you will build this function rather than inherit it. This is a full-time position, working a hybrid schedule based out of our Houston, TX office.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, select, and implement a learning management platform capable of supporting customer, partner, and internal audiences, and own the vendor relationship and platform administration thereafter.
  • Build and operate Cumulus Academy, including course structure, learning paths, branded learner experience, and ongoing content maintenance.
  • Design and launch a formal Cumulus certification program, covering required curricula, assessments, passing criteria, certificates, expiration, and recertification.
  • Develop role-based curricula for external audiences, such as Cumulus administrators, field users, Smart Torque and electrical testing operators, and customer implementation leads.
  • Develop internal enablement curricula covering new-hire product onboarding, implementation methodology, consistent brand messaging, release training, and role-specific development for Sales, Professional Services, and Support.
  • Create scalable deployment and onboarding materials that reduce the manual training effort required on each new customer implementation.
  • Produce and maintain training content across formats - written guides, video walkthroughs, interactive simulations, quick-reference materials, and assessments.
  • Create and maintain embedded learning resources inside the product and advise Product on where in-product guidance should appear.
  • Partner with Professional Services to identify recurring customer friction and convert it into reusable curriculum rather than repeated one-off training.
  • Work with the Product Marketing Manager to deliver training for new releases so education and release communications stay aligned.
  • Measure learning outcomes - completion, certification rates, time-to-productivity, and downstream effects on support volume and adoption - and report results to Product leadership.
  • Recommend product changes where the right answer is a better experience rather than more training.
About You

You believe the best training is the training a customer never needs, and you are just as willing to recommend a product change as to build a course. You are a strong writer and a clear explainer who can turn a complex industrial workflow into something a field crew can follow on a first read. You are comfortable owning a platform decision, standing up a program from nothing, and being measured on whether people actually learn - not on how many courses you published. You enjoy being close to real deployments and treat the field as your source material.

Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, communications, engineering, business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in customer education, technical training, instructional design, enablement, or a closely related role in B2B software.
  • Demonstrated experience building training curricula from scratch, not solely maintaining existing content.

Experience selecting and implementing an LMS, including vendor evaluation and rollout.

  • Hands-on experience administering a learning management system, including course setup, learner management, and reporting.
  • Experience producing training content in multiple formats, including written documentation and video.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated, with the ability to run multiple programs concurrently.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites, industry events, and our Massachusetts headquarters (approximately 15-25%).
Preferred
  • Experience designing a certification program with assessments, expiration, and recertification.
  • Background in construction technology, industrial software, field service software, manufacturing, or enterprise SaaS serving frontline workforces.
  • Experience with in-product guidance or digital adoption tools.
  • Competitive salaries and performance-based bonuses.
  • Participation in our equity incentive plan.
