Job description

Seasoned strategist, accountable for leading priority Medicare product strategic initiatives in support of Kaiser Permanente’s Medicare line of business strategic objectives. Positioned on the Medicare Product Strategy team within the National Product Design and Management Division. Leverages expertise to build partnerships with key cross-functional partners including the Medicare line of business, Strategic Market Planning and Assessment, Actuarial Services, Finance, and National Market Research.

Note: Work location is remote (e.g., home address), per KP’s Authorized States Policy. Employees may be required to travel to a KP or customer site. Residence required in the primary location: All Kaiser Permanente Authorized Locations. Note: Compensation may differ based on market.

Job Summary:

Develops product strategy for a market, product type, or product line of business (LOB) and conducts ideation sessions to build a robust product pipeline aligned with market goals. Applies advanced understanding to drive performance, analyze competitors, and assess KP product performance. Facilitates product feasibility assessments, aligns with executives, and influences implementation. Acts as a product authority, supporting sales and customer support, and serves as a subject matter expert across markets, LOBs, and initiatives. Develops business development strategies, manages product implementations, and delivers training and change management activities, leveraging deep knowledge of product policies and end-to-end administration.

Essential Responsibilities:
  1. Promotes learning and builds relationships with stakeholders; communicates effectively; provides feedback; practices self-leadership; adapts to change; fosters team collaboration.
  2. Oversees business projects applying deep expertise; partners internally and externally for decision-making; solves complex problems; develops work plans; recognizes improvement opportunities.
  3. Participates in business case development for complex initiatives.
  4. Manages product implementation from simple to complex across markets and LOBs.
  5. Facilitates portfolio feasibility and development through organizational alignment and executive influence.
  6. Leverages deep product knowledge, including policy and administration, working with underwriting, actuarial, regulatory, and benefits teams.
  7. Develops and delivers product training and change management activities across markets and LOBs.
  8. Manages a matrixed team across multiple markets, LOBs, and initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • At least three (3) years of experience leading matrixed teams; experience may include direct reports.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution plus a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience, or eleven (11) years of relevant experience without a degree.
