Job summary

Henkel in New Jersey offers an internship as a Product Development & Optimization Intern for our Technomelt brand in Adhesive Technologies. You will gain hands-on experience creating formulations in a lab, participate in lab-scale batch making, and test applications to evaluate performance and quality.

You should be an undergraduate student graduating 2027–2029, pursuing Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science Engineering, with Excel skills and the ability to interpret data to guide

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate student graduating in 2027, 2028 or 2029 pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science Engineering.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong ability to interpret technical and performance data and recommend actionable next steps.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and brainstorming skills to support innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Gain hands-on experience creating product formulations in a lab environment.
  • Participate in lab-scale batch making processes for packaging, labeling, and hygiene adhesive applications.
  • Conduct specific application testing to evaluate product performance and quality.
  • Learn the full product formulation life cycle from lab development to production and market launch.
  • Develop understanding of SAP systems and interpret formulation and production data.

What you’ll do

As a Product Development & OptimizationIntern for our brand Technomelt, you will:

  • Gain hands-on experience creating product formulations in a lab environment
  • Participate in lab-scale batch making processes for packaging, labeling, and hygiene adhesive applications
  • Conduct specific application testing to evaluate product performance and quality
  • Learn the full product formulation life cycle - from lab development to production and market launch
  • Develop an understanding of SAP systems and learn how to interpret and analyze formulation and production data
  • Contribute insights that support strategic decision-making based on technical and market knowledge

  • This internship is not eligible for a housing stipend or relocation support.
  • This internship has a duration of May 24th – August 13th
  • Recruitment for our 2027 internships starts in September 2026 and runs through early March 2027 or until all our positions are filled

The salary range for this role is $22-27/hour. This is the rate that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
