Job Summary:

We are looking for a dynamic, client-oriented Product Development Manager with a strong foundation in sales and a proven ability to develop consumer-relevant furniture products. The ideal candidate will have first-hand experience in a sales role, enabling them to deeply understand customer needs, translate market feedback into product strategy, and build strong cross-functional relationships. This role requires frequent engagement with clients and participation in meetings and industry events, both domestically and internationally.

This position plays a key role in bridging market needs with product innovation and delivery, collaborating with U.S.-based sales/design teams and China-based R&D/sourcing teams to develop and scale high-impact product assortments in categories such as garage organization, kitchen storage, home office, bedroom, or outdoor furniture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead end-to-end product development within assigned furniture categories — from concept to launch — informed by direct market insights and client feedback.
• Actively participate in customer meetings, trade shows, and industry events to gather insights, build relationships, and identify unmet market needs.
• Serve as the voice of the customer internally; ensure that client feedback and pain points are reflected in product design and go-to-market strategies.
• Work closely with sales teams to co-develop winning product propositions aligned with customer preferences and business goals.
• Conduct competitive analysis and trend research to ensure products meet or exceed market expectations.
• Manage sourcing, production timelines, costing, quality, and regulatory compliance in collaboration with China-based vendor and factory partners.
• Recruit and manage sub-category product managers where applicable (e.g., garage, kitchen, outdoor).
• Present product roadmaps, development progress, and strategic category plans to senior leadership.
• Track and analyze category performance, P&L, and margins; make data-driven recommendations for optimization.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in product development, category management, or related roles with prior experience in a sales or client-facing position required.
• Demonstrated ability to engage with clients, understand their needs, and translate them into actionable product plans.
• Strong knowledge of furniture trends, construction, materials, and consumer preferences.
• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills; comfortable leading discussions with internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-cultural, and cross-functional environment.
• Experience working with global suppliers and manufacturing teams, especially in China.
• Advanced Excel and data analysis skills; familiarity with product lifecycle management and forecasting tools.
• Willingness to travel frequently for meetings, factory visits, and industry events.

Job Type:

Full-time; Onsite – Irvine, CA (Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
