Job description

Product Development Manager (Color Cosmetics)

New York, New York

At Revlon, we create beauty innovations for everyone that inspire confidence and ignite joy every day.

Breaking beauty boundaries is in our company’s DNA. Since its game-changing launch of the first opaque nail enamel in 1932 (and later, the first long-wear foundation), Revlon has provided consumers with high-quality product innovation, performance, and sophisticated glamour. Elizabeth Arden made waves as a woman-led beauty company in the 1920s. In 1931, Almay became the original hypoallergenic, fragrance-free beauty brand.

Today, Revlon resiliently continues its legacy as a leading global beauty company. Our diverse portfolio—which consists of some of the world’s most iconic brands and product offerings in color cosmetics, skincare, hair color & care, personal care, and fragrances is sold around the world through prestige, professional, mass, and direct-to-consumer retail channels. These brands include Revlon, Revlon Professional, Elizabeth Arden, Almay, American Crew, CND, Cutex, Mitchum, Sinful Colors, Creme of Nature, Christina Aguilera, John Varvatos, Juicy Couture, Ed Hardy and more.

We honor our heritage, embrace change, and applaud diversity. We champion our employees and celebrate our consumers.

We are Revlon, together, transforming beauty.

This role is a Hybrid Role: Employees are expected to work from our New York office 3 days per week and may work remotely the remaining days.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Product Development Manager leads the development of innovative color cosmetic products from concept through commercialization across the Revlon and Almay portfolios. This role translates business objectives, consumer insights, and market trends into compelling product concepts and partners closely with Marketing, Formulation, Packaging Development, Regulatory, Operations, Sourcing, Project Management, Consumer and Clinical Claims Support, and external manufacturing partners to bring consumer-relevant, trend-forward products to market. The ideal candidate is creative, strategic, consumer-focused, and experienced in managing complex product development programs.

This position reports to the Director of Product Development and is part of the Product Development organization within R&D.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead assigned product development programs from concept through commercialization, translating consumer insights, brand strategies, competitive analysis, and market trends into clear development briefs, technical targets, benchmarks, and product recommendations.
  • Drive formula, shade, texture, and packaging development in partnership with internal Formulation and Packaging teams and third-party manufacturers (TPMs), balancing product performance, quality, cost, timing, and consumer expectations.
  • Serve as the primary Product Development liaison across internal cross-functional teams, TPMs, suppliers, and external development partners; lead cross-functional project development meetings, communicate priorities and risks, and drive alignment and timely decisions.
  • Establish shade strategies and assortments for new launches and line extensions using trend analysis, competitive benchmarking, technical shade input, and consumer insights.
  • Manage development timelines, milestones, documentation, specifications, approvals, benchmarks, testing inputs, and launch records; proactively identify risks and trade-offs and support launch readiness, commercialization, reformulations, and post-launch needs.
  • Build strong supplier and manufacturing relationships, guide shade matching and scale-up activities, and travel to supplier or manufacturing sites as needed for product evaluations, pilot runs, scale-ups, and commercialization support.
  • Monitor new launches, emerging technologies, ingredients, textures, shades, formats, and consumer behaviors across mass, masstige, and prestige beauty; attend supplier presentations, trade shows, and industry events and share relevant opportunities with cross-functional partners.
  • Support continuous improvement of Product Development processes, standards, and best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Required

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in beauty, cosmetics, personal care, or related product development, with demonstrated experience managing products from concept through commercialization.
  • Strong understanding of product development, supplier and TPM management, and commercialization.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex programs and shifting priorities.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and influencing skills across cross-functional partners and leadership.
  • Ability to balance creativity, technical requirements, timing, cost, and business objectives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly collaborative, solutions-oriented, and passionate about beauty, innovation, consumer trends, and product development.

Preferred
